The guided tour of the Museum and Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela focuses on the history of the Cathedral and the tomb of the Apostle, the heart of the city that brings his name. During the visit, we will see the evolution of the Cathedral over the centuries, we will know the importance of the discovery of the tomb of Santiago and we will understand how it affected all of Europe in the Middle Ages.
The first part of the guided tour starts at the Cathedral Museum, with four floors in ascending order. The first floor stands out for its archaeological rooms. The second floor houses the Chapter House and the library where a replica of the famous and valuable Codex Calixtinus is kept. On the third floor is the balcony that overlooks the Plaza del Obradoiro, as well as the cloister and the cemetery. Last but not least, we will reach the fourth floor, which contains the complete collection of the cathedral’s precious tapestries.
The second part of the tour takes us inside the Cathedral. We will talk about the Portico de la Gloria and we will tour the transepts of the temple. On the way, we will see its numerous interior chapels, the botafumeiro, the baroque organs, the crypt of the Apostle and we will see the image of the Apostle located in the High Altar.

The activity does not include the ticket. You must pay the price of the entrance ticket to the museum, the price is 6€. With this ticket you will have access to the Cathedral Museum, the Cathedral and other facilities such as the Pazo Xelmirez or the Collegiate Church of Sar. The Pórtico de la Gloria is not included on the tour
